Job Description
|
The Data Base Engineer will be a full-time position on a multi-terabyte government records repository system, which includes support of an Oracle Relational Data Base Management System (RDBMS).
Our candidate must be able to:
Maintain and ensure the daily operation of the RDBMS.
Conduct backup and recovery operations of the database.
Conduct performance tuning, as required.
Support the applications which run against the database. These applications include coordinating the application processes for file demands from external customers throughout the government.
Support potential external interfaces.
Work in an integrated operations team, with direct interface with the customer on operational strategies.
Our candidate must have:
Education:
§ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
o Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems and two or more years of experience in the design and administration of enterprise production scale performance intensive relational database systems - or - five or more years of experience in the design and administration of enterprise production scale performance intensive relational database systems)
Experience/Skills:
Three to five years experience working with the Oracle RDBMS.
Oracle Database Installation
Configuration and Performance Tuning experience (version 10g) on Linux Redhat Intel clustered computing platforms
Oracle GEO Spatial Services (Installation and Performance Tuning)
Oracle Case Management Application Services (Installation and Performance Tuning)
Oracle Selective Audit
Linux (preferably Redhat) operating system advanced administration
Java Development Skills
Experience with SQL, SQLPlus, Windows NT, UNIX.
Experience working in system administration and maintenance would be beneficial
